Notes
He was a Loyalist. His property in Connecticut was confiscated in 1786. The family went to Saint John, New Brunswick on the ship Sally in 1783. He took up land near Saint George, New Brunswick. After 7 years, he and Sarah and Justus Azel move to the Susquehanna River Valley, Pennsylvania. They moved to Pickering, Upper Canada (now Ontario), Canada about 1807.

Justus Azel, his son referred to him as Justus Seelye not Justus William.

Neither Philo or Guy were mentioned in family records brought to Utah by Justus Azel Seelye. Mrs. White included these men in her book, Seely/Seelye/Seeley/Sealey Family.

In a letter written in 1878, by Edward Seelye, son of Stuart R. Seelye, he says, “His (Justus) family consisted of his wife Sarah Stuart and three sons, Orange, Stuart and Justus. “Seelys of New Brunswick, pg 35-6”
